I'm reading, and I completely agree. the important things that will come out of your Major project are the more about your own development, and less about the degree classification at the end of it. though of course, if you look at the criteria, they do emphasise process over outcome, even if some of them do measure outcome.

Hey, I'm struggling too. But I'd like to do something with audio input i.e. voice recognition. If you decide you want to go down the audio route too then would be happy to collaborate...but need to work out if is actually possible so as you say, it's not set in stone just yet :)

<blockquote>Using mysql_close() isn't usually necessary, as non-persistent open links are automatically closed at the end of the script's execution. See also freeing resources.</blockquote>

http://uk.php.net/mysql_close

presumably you have no need to make persistent connections (i.e. you're using mysql_connect, not mysql_pconnect)

Flash is a PIMA, agreed

my 2p: pngs are good for big projects (Fireworks native layered format), and have nice alpha transparency where there's browser support for it (not IE6 sadly). for snaps, I'd say from experience that hardly anyone uses them

my plan for the project itself is to get functionality. Design won't be my aim yet. I still need a definitive name for it. I still have to get the grips with flash though. I know its capabilities. I need to see how to extract them.

hey jesus
I have no problem with you making money from good ideas :) your idea sounds good anyways, though very ambitious for the scope of the project. maybe you could start it off and work on it more after the deadline. great project to learn the skills through though...
